ORDINANCE NO.

AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Angeles regulating the
riding of horses within the City Limits, making .certain
acts violations and providing for impounding of horses.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
ANGELES as follows:
Section 1. No person shall ride a horse within the City
Limits of the City of Port Angeles on any street or alley during
the hours of darkness, or on any sidewalk or planting strip at
any time.
Section 2. No person shall ride any horse on First Street
from Race Street to Valley Street; on Front Street from Race
Street to Valley Street; on Lincoln Street from Eighth Street to
Railroad Avenue, or in any City Park which is posted against horse-
back riding.
Section 3. No person shall ride any horse on private prop-
erty without permission of the owner or occupier thereof.
Section 4. The Police Chief may issue waivers in writing
of the above prohibitions in the event of a parade or special
event.
Section 5. Any horse used in violation of the above prohi-
bitions may be impounded by the Police Department, and the owner
thereof shall be liable for all costs of impoundment. Within
fifteen (15) days after the impoundment, the Police Chief may sell
the horse at public auction to satisfy the costs of impoundment,
after giving the owner thereof three (3) days notice in writing of
the time and place of the sale. Any amount received by the Police
Chief over and above the cost of impoundment shall be returned to
the owner of the .animal.
