AN ORDINANCE providing for the appropriation of
$18,000.00 from available funds for the con-
struction of a sewer and declaring an emergency.
WHEREAS, since the adoption of the 1972 budget a study has
shown that due to an increase in the Valley Street area, where no
sewer exists, a serious pollution problem has developed due to tight
soil conditions, so that septic tanks and cess -pools will no longer
adequately service the area; and
WHEREAS, a sewer could be constructed to extend the Valley Street
sewer to a point just southerly of Ninth Street at the approximate
cost of $450.00 per lot, which sewer would solve a pollution problem
which is creating an emergency;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City
of Port Angeles as follows:
Section 1. There is hereby appropriated the sum of $18,000.00
to the Sewer Fund for the extension of the sewer on Valley Street,
south to a point just southerly of Ninth Street, with the work to be
performed by the City.
Section 2. There is hereby established a special sewer connec-
tion fee for said extension in the amount of $450.00 per lot,
which is payable in cash or ten (10) equal annual installments with
interest on the unpaid balance at 610 per annum.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Angeles and
approved by its Mayor at a regular meeting of the Council held on
