HomeMy WebLinkAbout1893ORDINANCE NO. /lO gg AN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance No. 1885 up- dating the Comprehensive Plan for the City of Port Angeles. WHEREAS the City of Port Angeles adopted a Comprehensive Plan on May 6, 1965 by Ordinance No. 1560, which was amended by Ordinance No. 1783 on March 6, 1973, and which was amended and up -dated on July 6, 1976; and WHEREAS there are present plans for the establishment of an oil port within the City Limits of the City of Port Angeles and the Planning Commission of the City has recommended to the City Council that the Comprehensive Plan be amended so as to prohibit an oil port within the City Limits; and WHEREAS the residents of the City of Port Angeles have by advisory ballot on September 21, 1976 expressed their opposition to an oil port within the City Limits; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES DO ORDAIN as follows: Section 1. The Comprehensive Plan for the City of Port Angeles be, and it is hereby, amended by adding to it a section to be known as Section 5A providing as follows: "Establishment of an oil port in the City of Port Angeles is hazardous to the community and detrimental to the environment and general ecology of the area and accordingly should be prohibited. "An oil port is defined as facilities which will result in the receipt of more than an average of 50,000 barrels per day of crude or refined petroleum which has been or will be transferred over marine waters." • • PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Angeles and approved by its Mayor at a regular meeting of the Council held on the S day of October, 1976.
