HomeMy WebLinkAbout1894ORDINANCE NO. 1894 AN ORDINANCE amending Section 12 of Ordinance No. 1709, the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Port Angeles, by prohibiting an oil port in the M -2 Industrial District of the City of Port Angeles. WHEREAS, the City of Port Angeles amended its Comprehensive Plan by Ordinance No. 1893 providing that an oil port should be prohibited in the City of Port Angeles; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Port Angeles has held a public hearing on the matter and has recommended that the Zoning Ordinance of the City be amended to include such a prohibition; and WHEREAS, a public hearing has been held by the Council on the question of said proposed amendment to the Zoning Ordinance and the Council finding that it is in the best interests of the City and its citizens that the City's Zoning Ordinance be amended as recommended; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Angeles do ordain as follows: Section 1. Section 12 of Ordinance No. 1709 entitled M -2 - Industrial District, which is the only area in the City in which an oil port is presently permitted, is hereby amended by inserting the following paragraph just prior to the sentence reading as follows: "Residential uses are prohibited in this District ": "An oil port is expressly prohibited in this District." "An oil port is defined as facilities which will result in the receipt of more than an average of :50,000 barrels per day of crude or refined petroleum which has been or will be transferred over marine waters." PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Angeles and approved by its Mayor at a regular meeting of the Council held on the 15th day of December, 1976.
