ORDINANCE NO. 1939
AN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance No. 1847 relating
to gambling, providing for and levying a tax upon
the income derived from the conduct of certain
activities and regulating the same by establishing
a flat rate charge of $150.00 to the Clallam County
Fair Association for gambling activities at the
1977 Fair.
WHEREAS, the Clallam County Fair Association has requested
exemption from the gambling tax imposed by Ordinance 1847; and
WHEREAS, the Fair Association is a nonprofit organization
jointly funded by the Washington State Paramutual Fund, Clallam
County and the City of Port Angeles providing educational and
entertainment activities for the general public; and
WHEREAS, in prior years the tax imposed by Ordinance 1847
has deprived the Fair Association of more than $1,400.00 in revenue
with which to fund its activities;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PORT ANGELES that subsection (C) of Section II, Ordinance 1847 and
§ 3.52.020C of the Port Angeles Municipal Code is hereby amended
by the addition of the following sentence: "Provided, however, that
for the year 1977 only, and in lieu of the above tax upon amusement
games, the Clallam County Fair Association shall be assessed \a tax
in the amount of $150.00 regardless of the gross receipts from such
amusement games."
