ANN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Angeles,
amending Section 1 of Article IV of
Ordinance No. 1709, the Zoning Ordinance,
by permitting mental hospitals as a
conditional use in the RS -9 Single Family
Residential District.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Port
Angeles has held a public hearing on the matter and has recommended
that the zoning ordinance of the City be amended to permit mental
hospitals as conditional uses in the RS -9 zone; and
WHEREAS, the City Council concurs with the findings of the
Planning Commission as to the reasons for the proposed amendment;
and
WHEREAS, a public hearing has been held by the Council on
the question of said proposed amendment to the zoning ordinance and
the Council finding that it is in the best interests of the City
and its citizens that the City's zoning ordinance be amended as
recommended; now therefore
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES DOES ORDAIN as
follows:
Section 1. Section 1 of Article IV of Ordinance No. 1709
entitled RS -9 Residential Single Family District is hereby amended
by deleting the parenthetical clause which reads as follows: "(not
to include hospitals for the treatment of mental disorders or
alcololism)" and adding the sentence which reads as follows:
"Mental hospitals may be located on tracts of less than 5 acres,
subject to approval of the Planning Commission."
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Angeles,
Washington, at a regular meeting of said Council held this j,2xe
day of September, 1977.
