HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982ORDINANCE NO. /4/42— AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Angeles relating to licensing of bicycles. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES as follows: Section 1. Ordinance No. 1571 is hereby repealed and Section 6.3 of the Code of the City of Port Angeles is amended to read as follows: The Chief of Police is hereby authorized and directed to issue upon written applications, bicycle licenses which shall be effective for the life of the bicycle, which licenses when issued shall entitle the licensees to operate such bicycles for which said licenses have been issued, upon all the streets, alleys and public highways of the City. Section 2. Subsection 6.4 of the Code of the City of Port Angeles is amended to read as follows: License plates: The City shall provide license stamps or plates, together with registration cards, said plates or stamps and registration cards having numbers stamped thereon in numerical order, beginning with Number 1, and the name "Port Angeles" stamped thereon; the plate to be of a design and materia determined by the Chief of Police, and it shall be the duty of the Chief of Police to attach one such plate or stamp to each bicycle, and to issue a corresponding registration card to each license upon the payment of the license fee herein provided for. Such plate or stamp shall remain attached during the existence of such bicycle. The Chief of Police shall also keep a record of the date of issue of each license, to whom issued, the number thereof and the number of the bicycle frame. • Section 3. Sebsection 6.5 of the Code of the City of Port Angeles is amended to read as follows: The license fee to be paid for each bicycle shall be one dollar. All license fees collected under this chapter shall be collected by the Chief of Police. Section 4. Subsection 6.6 of the Code of the City of Port Angeles is amended to read as follows: Re- registration: Upon payment of a one dollar fee, bi- cycles registered under the provisions hereof shall be re- regis- tered in the event the license is mutilated, illegible, or destroyed. The Chief of Police shall affix a new license plate or stamp upon each bicycle at the time of such re- registration. Section 5. Registration Transfer: Upon notification to the Chief of Police of sale of a bicycle to a new owner, the new owner may cause the registration to be changed into the name of the new owner at no cost for such service.
