ORDINANCE NO. ap77
AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Angeles
vacating a portion of the west half of
the Peabody Street right -of -way north
of Vashon Street.
WHEREAS, a petition is on file with the City of Port
Angeles to vacate a portion of the west half of the Peabody Street
right -of -way north of Vashon Street; and
WHEREAS, the requirements of Chapter 43.21C RCW, the
State Environmental Policy Act, have been met and a public hearing
has been held by the City Council following public notice, pur-
suant to Chapter 35.79 RCW; and
WHEREAS, said vacation appears to be of benefit to and
in the interests of the public;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES as follows:
Section 1. That portion of the west half of the Peabody
Street right -of -way north of Vashon Street, legally described as
follows:
A portion of Peabody Street abutting Lot 20, Block 8,
Puget Sound Cooperative Colony's Second Addition to the
Townsite of Port Angeles as recorded in Volume 1, page
12 of Plats, records of Clallam County, Washington, be-
ing more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at the southeast corner of said Lot 20; THENCE
easterly along the south line of said Lot 20 projected,
a distance of 35 feet; THENCE northerly to a point on the
projected north line of said Lot 20 which is 35 feet east-
erly of the northeast corner; THENCE westerly along said
projected north line a distance of 35 feet to the north-
east corner of said Lot 20; THENCE southerly along the
east line of said Lot 20 to the southeast corner thereof
and the point of beginning;
is hereby vacated. Said vacation shall become effective upon the
payment of $3 660.06 as compensation for said vacated street.
Section 2. Upon the request for and furnishing of a
quit claim deed by any owner of property abutting upon the va-
cated street, the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to
execute such quit claim deed.
Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to file a
certified copy of this Ordinance with the Auditor of Clallam
County.
