AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Angeles
relating to the use of public streets
in the City of Port Angeles and
establishing a speed limit thereon.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
ANGELES as follows:
Section 1. It shall be unlawful to operate a motor
vehicle or any other vehicle at a speed in excess of the
following speeds in the following locations:
A. 30 miles per hour on Lauridsen Boulevard from the east margin
of Lincoln Street west to the western City limits of the City
of Port Angeles;
B. 30 miles per hour on Lincoln Street from the north margin of
Lauridsen Boulevard to the south margin of First Street;
C. 20 miles per hour on Lincoln Street from the north margin of
Front Street to the south margin of First Street;
D. 35 miles per hour on First Street from the east margin of
Lincoln Street to the west margin of Golf Course Road;
E. 35 miles per hour on Front Street from the west margin of
Golf Course Road west to the east margin of Lincoln Street;
and
F. 20 miles per hour when passing any marked school or play-
ground crosswalk when such marked crosswalk is fully posted
with standard school speed limit signs or standard playground
speed limit signs, in any location listed in any of the sub-
paragraphs of this section, above, during the times posted on
said school and playground speed limit signs.
Section 2. The above speed limits shall be posted and
enforced notwithstanding any higher or lower speed limits to the
contrary in Ordinances 1541, 1374, or 1310, or any City code.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall be forwarded to the
Department of Transportation for approval by the Secretary of

Transportation pursuant to RCW 46.61.415(5), along with such
documentation as may exist or reasonably may be produced which
will help insure its approval. Provided that, if the Secretary
of Transportation denies approval for any speed limit for any
location covered by this Ordinance, the maximum speed in that
location will be the lowest maximum speed acceptable to the
Secretary of Transportation but not below the speed limit of this
Ordinance.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall take effect five days
after publication or after approval by the Secretary of
Transportation, whichever is later.
Section 5. If any provision of this Ordinance or its
application to any person or circumstance, is held invalid, the
remainder of the Ordinance, or the application of the provision
to other persons or circumstances is not affected, and to this
end the provisions of this Ordinance are declared to be
severable.
