HomeMy WebLinkAbout2494ORDINANCE NO. 2494 AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Angeles amending the sign requirements for the Public Buildings and Parks District and amending Article IV, Section 13, of Ordinance No. 1709. WHEREAS, the current sign requirements in the Public Buildings and Parks District of the Zoning Code are outdated; and WHEREAS, the requirements of Chapter 43.21C, the State Environmental Policy Act, have been complied with; and WHEREAS, a public hearing has been held, pursuant to notice thereof; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES DOES ORDAIN as follows: Section 1. Article IV, Section 13, of Ordinance No. 1709, is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 13 - PBP - PUBLIC BUILDINGS - PARK DISTRICT Permitted Uses Bleachers, grandstands (subject) Parks, greenbelts to review by Planning Offstreet parking areas Commission) Picnic areas and Bridle trails facilities City Hall Playgrounds Civic buildings & governmental Recreation structures and offices facilities Courthouse Reservoir, utilities Fire station (underground and Library overhead) Marinas, boat storage Schools Municipal pool Streets, paths and roads Museum as required Minimum Yard Requirements No buildings constructed subsequent to adoption of these regulations shall be constructed closer than 35 feet to a public right -of -way line. Lighting Facilities Overhead lights, floodlights, etc., shall be constructed so as to shine away from neighboring property as far as is practical. Offstreet Parking - (See Article V and Ordinance No. 1588 as amended.) Signs Permitted 1. One wall sign per building /structure facade, not to exceed 50 square feet per facade. 2 One detached free - standing identification sign per entrance, provided each individual sign does not exceed 32 square feet. 3. Public and private directional and informational signs including but not limited to "exit ", "entrance ", warnings, restrooms, "parking ", "no parking ", "fire lane ", and signs required by State and Federal Safety regulations are exempt; provided they do not exceed 6 square feet in area. 4. Message boards and scoreboards shall be Conditional Use Permits. 5. Signs may be indirectly lighted, but not intermittent or flashing. 6. Additional signage required to meet public safety needs may be obtained through a Conditional Use Permit. Section 2. This Ordinance shall be effective five days after date of publication.
