HomeMy WebLinkAbout2499ORDINANCE NO. 2499 AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Angeles, Washington, increasing penalties for unpaid parking tickets issued prior to July 25, 1987. WHEREAS, the City of Port Angeles has a need to have a uniform failure to respond penalty for all unpaid parking tickets in order to automate the handling of parking tickets and allow all unpaid tickets to be "tagged" to vehicle registrations so that they must be paid prior to renewal of vehicle registration; and WHEREAS, parking tickets of the City of Port Angeles issued prior to July 25, 1987, were treated by simply revising the fee to $20.00, which had the effect of raising some penalties and lowering others, and which procedure was unacceptable to the Washington State Department of Licensing; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES DOES HEREBY ORDAIN as follows: Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of any other ordinances, any parking infraction issued prior to July 25, 1987, which remains unpaid after thirty (30) days notice is given to the registered owner, shall have a total penalty comprised of the sum of the original penalty at issuance of said infraction plus $25.00. Section 2 - Effective Date. This ordinance shall become effective in the manner provided by law.
