HomeMy WebLinkAbout2712ORDINANCE NO. 2712 AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Angeles amending the requirements for building - mounted signs and amending Section 1 of Ordinance No. 2293, as most recently amended by Section 1 of Ordinance No. 2689, and Section 17.26.220 of the Port Angeles Municipal Code. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES DOES ORDAIN as follows: Section 1. Section 1 of Ordinance No. 2293, as most recently amended by Section 1 of Ordinance No. 2689, and Section 17.26.220 of the Port Angeles Municipal Code are each amended to read as follows: 17.26.220 Signs. A. Signs may be lighted but not intermittent or flashing type. All signs over 10 square feet in area shall be restricted to territory no closer than 100 feet to all property in a Residential District. Maximum height shall be 35 feet. B. Maximum Sign Area: 1. Building- Mounted Signs. Building- mounted signs may be placed on any cicvation wall not facing an adjacent residential zone. Building- mounted signs may not extend above the top of the eaves or parapet and may not be located on a roof public ctrcct. For buildings occupied by a single entity, sign area shall not exceed 20% of the area of the building elevation facing a public street to a maximum of 250 square feet for each building elevation which faces a public street. In buildings occupied by more than one entity, each entity's signage may not exceed 20% of that entity's portion of the building elevation facing a public street occupied by said entity to a maximum of 250 square feet. 2. Free - Standing Signs. One square foot of free- standing visible sign area is allowed for every 1.25 lineal feet of arterial street frontage of the site, provided that the maximum -1- area on any free - standing sign face does not exceed half of the maximum visible sign area. "Visible sign area" is defined as the total of all free - standing sign faces visible from any location. The maximum visible sign area for a particular site shall be as follows: Site Size Less than .50 acre .50 - .99 acre 1 - 1.99 acres 2 - 2.99 acres 3 acres and above Maximum Visible Sign Area 100 square feet 200 square feet 300 square feet 400 square feet 500 square feet C. Off - premise advertising signs, including billboards, shall be prohibited on sites which contain signage for tenants or businesses located on said sites. Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect five (5) days after date of publication. Building - mounted signs may not extend above the top of the eaves or parapet and may not be located on a roof. This Ordinance amends Section 1 of Ordinance No. 2293, as most recently amended by Section 1 of Ordinance No. 2689, and Section 17.26.220 of the Port Angeles Municipal Code. Ordinance No. 2713 This Ordinance of the City of Port Angeles deals with the disposal of dead animals and re- enacts Chapter 8.24 of the Port Angeles Municipal Code. The carcasses of dead animals shall be removed and disposed of by burial, incineration or other proper method within twenty -four hours after death. If the carcass is buried, it shall be so placed that every part thereof shall be covered by at least two feet of earth and at a location not less than one hundred feet from any well, spring, or stream and in a place not subject to overflow by the surface waters. In all cases of death from communicable disease, the carcass, if disposed of by burial, shall first be enveloped in unslackened lime. Ordinance No. 2714 This Ordinance of the City of Port Angeles relates to emergency management, creates an Emergency Management Council, establishes the office of Director of Emergency Management, fixes its powers and duties, repeals prior inconsistent ordinances, and codifies this ordinance in Chapter 2.24 of the Port Angeles Municipal Code. The full texts of the Ordinances are available at City Hall in the City Clerk's office or will be mailed upon request.
