HomeMy WebLinkAbout2831ORDINANCE NO. 2831 AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Angeles, Washington, exempting the City from a new legislative prohibition against the carrying of firearms in certain situations and adding a new section to Chapter 9.42 of the Port Angeles Municipal Code. WHEREAS, the Washington State Legislature enacted a law in its 1994 special session that revises RCW 9.41.050 by restricting the transportation and use of firearms in certain situations; and WHEREAS, in enacting the new law, the Legislature included a provision allowing cities to exempt themselves from these gun carrying prohibitions; and WHEREAS, Clallam County and the City of Forks have already adopted the exemption allowed by the Legislature; and WHEREAS, it is in the public interest and has been recommended by the Chief of Police that the City of Port Angeles adopt the exemption as well; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ANGELES, WASHINGTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN as follows: Section 1. A new section is hereby added to Chapter 9.42 of the Port Angeles Municipal Code to read as follows: The City of Port Angeles shall be exempt from the prohibitions set forth in RCW 9.41.050(4) and Subsection 4 of Section 405 of Chapter 7 of the Washington Laws, 1994 First Special Session, as allowed by Subsection 405(6) of said law. The property is legally described as that portion of Suburban Lot 10 lying south of First Street to the First /Second Street alley, between Liberty and Ennis Streets, Port Angeles, Washington, County of Clallam, except the east two hundred feet thereof. Ordinance No. 2828 This Ordinance of the City of Port Angeles establishes a pay plan for the employees represented by IBEW #997 for the period of April 1, 1994 through March 31, 1995, and provides for the payment thereof. Ordinance No. 2829 This Ordinance of the City of Port Angeles establishes a pay plan for the employees represented by Teamsters Local #589 (non -sworn unit) for the period of January 1, 1994 through December 31, 1994, and provides for the payment thereof. Ordinance No. 2830 This Ordinance of the City of Port Angeles provides for the submission to the qualified electors of the City of Port Angeles at a special election to be held on September 20, 1994, of a proposition authorizing the City to issue its general obligation bonds in the aggregate principal amount of not to exceed $3,600,000, or so much thereof as may be issued under the laws governing the indebtedness of cities, for the purpose of providing funds to construct and equip a new library building of the City to be located on E. Lauridsen Blvd. , and a proposition authorizing the City, if the new library bonds are approved, to issue its general obligation bonds in the aggregate principal amount of not to exceed $300,000, or so much thereof as may be issued under the laws governing the indebtedness of cities, for the purpose of providing funds to renovate the existing library building of the City located on Lincoln Street. Ordinance No. 2831 This Ordinance of the City of Port Angeles exempts the City from a new legislative prohibition against the carrying of firearms in certain situations and adds a new section to Chapter 9.42 of the Port Angeles Municipal Code. The full texts of the Ordinances are available at City Hall in the City Clerk's office or will be mailed upon request. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. These Ordinances shall take effect five days after the date of publication of these summaries. Becky J.
