HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 03/16/1990Utility Advisory Committee Port Angeles, Washington March 16, 1990 I. Call to Order Chairman Pro-Tem Lemon called the meeting to order at 4:12 p.m. II. Roll Call Members Present: Jim Hallett (arrived at 4:25p.m.), Mike Lemon, Dick Wight, Jeff Rosbach, Thomas Hunt Staff Present: J. Pittis, C. Knutson, K. Ridout, G. Kenworthy, D. Wolfe, C. Jones, B. Becker, Y. Ziomkowski Other: Fred Eoff (Piper, Jaffray and Hopwood) III. Approval of minutes of February 22, 1990, meeting The minutes were approved as written. IV. Legislation 1. Discussion of Financing Options for the City's Landfill Duane Wolfe gave a presentation regarding the financing options of the Solid Waste Landfill construction/stabilization project. Following a discussion of the options it was the consensus of the Committee to make a recommendation to the City Council to implement Alternative B (see attachment). Discussion of Underground Storage Tanks - Compliance with E.P.A. regulations Tim Smith and Claude Jones presented the subject of Underground Storage Tanks (UST). Reviewing several options the City could pursue to bring its currently used tanks into compliance with DOE and EPA regulations. A history of the issue was examined along with the last Council instructions. Public Works, Administrative Services and the Fire Department introduced a work and task schedule for all sites: Remove tanks permanently, fill some in place and to replace old tanks with new ones at two sites while studying what to do at the Corporation Yard. It was the consensus of the Committee to recommend to the Council proceeding with tasks 1 through 6 on the work schedule and items A-1 on task 7 (see attached). V.
