Members present were Hampton, Gort, Reiners, McGee, Driscoll, Hankins and Strange. Also present was City Engineer Warder. In addition to the above, also present were Mr. E. N. Fitzgerald, E. R. Gehrke, Jr. and M. E. Oldring, representing the Inland Empire Mining Co. for which this special meeting was called. Representing the Industrial Committee of the Chamber of Commerce was S. C. Tozier and G. S. Vergeer. A general discussion was held as ~ to the practical location of a crushing and processing operation at the location in Port Angeles Town- , site, Block 436 which is at the corner of 16th and "In Streets. Incidentt this is an abandoned gravel pit. Those present represented that the gravel pit lends itself to an ideal installation for their operation. After a considerable discussion relative to operation problems of noises, fumes, tailings and drainage, it was determined that the matter of drainage might be one of their principal problems and it was mutually agreed that the representatives of the Inland Empire Mining Co. would persue further the idea of a location elsewhere for their operation and contact the Planning Commission at a future date. In the meantime, the deposit of $10.00 with the City was to remain intact and be applied on any future application which may be presented by that firm.
