PLANNING COMMISSION

I CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Ross called the meeting to order at 7:10 P.M.
II ROLL CALL
Members Present: Jerry Glass, Jim Hulett, Lorraine Ross,
Jerry Cornell, Gary Cissel, Freeman Rice
(arrived at 7:30 P.M.)
Members Absent: Ted Puckett
Staff Present: Paul D. Carr, Dan VanHeIDert
III APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mr. Hulett moved to approve the minutes of January 9, 1985,
as corrected. Mr. Glass seconded the motion, which passed
unanimously.
IV PUBLIC HEARINGS
LIGHT INDUSTRIAL, LI, DISTRICT - ZONING CODE AMENDMENT:
Consideration of a Zoning Code Amendment which would
repeal the M-1, Industrial, District classification and
adoption of an LI, Light Industrial, District classifi-
cation. (Continued from the January 9th meeting.)
Mr. VanHemert reviewed the changes made by the Planning
Commission at the last meeting. Chairman Ross re-opened the
public hearing.
There was one in the audience. The Planning Commission
discussed various sections of the ordinance at length.
Chairman Ross closed the public hearing.
Following final discussion, Mr. Hulett moved to make the
following changes in the ordinance:
A. Change Purpose to address exterior nuisances.
B.
Change .020(A) Manufacturing (4) to read: "Machinery,
assembly of, such as but not limited to engines,
vehicles, boats, aircraft and parts thereof".

C. Add an (A) (10): "Assembly of mobile and modular homes
and home components".
D. Add a Section (B) (4): "Cocktail lounges and taverns".
E. Change .080, Design and Landscaping, (A) to read: "A
minimum 5-foot landscaping area shall be provided
abutting any public rights-of-way except for approved
curb-cuts".
And to recommend adoption of the amended ordinance and re-
peal the M-l District. Mr. Glass seconded the motion, which
passed unanimously.
V COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC
None
VI STAFF REPORTS
Memo on Repeal of PSC District Classification
Mr. Carr reviewed the memo recommending repeal of the PSC
District. Mr. Cornell moved to hold a public hearing on the
proposed ordinance on February 13th. Mr. Cissel seconded
the motion, which passed unanimously.
Mr. Carr proposed three minor amendments on February 27th
addressing extensions, temporary use permits for mobile
homes, and car washes.
VII REPORTS OF COMMISSIONERS
Mr. Cornell: Requested the Commission consider self-service
gas with convenience stores as a Conditional Use in the"
CSD-C1 District. Staff will place the item on the
February 27th meeting, with the other amendments.

The meeting adjourned at 8:25 P.M.
