HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 02/16/1960 ~ - Minutes of the regular meeting of the Port Angeles Planning Commission February 16th, 1960. Members present were McGee, Hunt, Anderson, Hankins and Strange. Also present was John Warder, City Engineer. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. First order of business was consideration of the application of Mrs. L. G. Lowry re: a variance on land use to allow a trailer court in the-araa between Penn and Alder Streets and First and Second Streets. Present at the meeting were E. C. Williams and E. H. Gehrke, prospective builders of the trailer court. Also present were Mr. Arnold Levy and Ed Fitzgerald. Mr. Nilliams and Mr. Gehrke stated they wished the matter postponed for a time to allow them to visl t other trai ler courts in the vicinity of Seattle and Tacoma to get ideas on the modern layout for trailer courts. After a general discussion, the matter was tabled until the regular meeting March l5th next. It Chairman introduced the problem of improving Second Street in the vicinity of Peabody & Chase Streets. In the discussion it was brought out it would be desirable, in order not to leave a small isolated area which would not be practical to improve by itself, that it be attached to the larger area LID now under consideration covering the area from First Street to Eighth Street and Race to Peabody Streets. It was unanimously passed that the Planning Commission reco~mend to the City Council that Second Street and the alley between First and Second Streets from Peabody Street to the Peabody Gulch and Chase Street from Second to First Str.eets be incorporated within the above mentioned LID when it is formed. There was a general discussion about the problem of improvements to the City Cemetary especially with the idea in view of modernization. Chairman was asked to write to other Cities, especially Pacific Grove, California, to ascertain their method of approach to the modernization of City owned cemetaries. There was a further general discussion of the problem of off street Parking as it pertains to our City. The members in the meantime area studying the suggestions as contained in the booklets received from the Public Administration Service. No further business appearing, meeting adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
