HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 02/21/1961 ~ e - - Minutes of the regular meeting of the Port Angeles Planning Commission February 2l, 1961. Members present were Hunt, Driscoll, McGee, Reiners, Anderson and Strange. Also present was City Engineer John Warder. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. First order of business was consideration of an application of the McDonald Funeral Home for rezoning from secon~ class residence to first class business at their location. Mrs Vera McDonald being present at the meeting stated they wished to make extensive rebuilding and alterations of their place, making use of two lots in the project. Members of the commission questioned Mrs McDonald about the plans she had in mind and suggested she submit a sketch showing the proposed improvement. Mrs McDonald did not seem to agree on the sketch proposal and the matter was left undecided. It was later decided, by a motion passed, that the Planning Commission would not approve a zoning re- classification on the property as per the application, but would consider a variance when the proper information was submitted. An application of Mrs Violet Hurlong for the vacation of the alley between 3rd and 4th, Peabody and Vine, also Vine Street from alley 3rd and 4th to alley 4th and 5th was read. Members will make a survey of the area to determine future action. This application is in ~nnection with contemplated new motel construction in the area. The proposed use to be made of the requested vacated area is a fish pond to be maintained in connection with the proposed motel. f Members decided to look over the area East of Race Street and South of 8th Street for possible rezoning of residence classification.
