HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 03/15/1960 ,. - - .' Minutes of the regular meeting of the Port Ange~s Planning Commission March 15, 1960. Members present were Hunt, Anderson, Reiners, Driscoll, Hankins and Strange. Also present was John Warder, City Engineer. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Under unfinished business, chairman reported on developements of application for trailer court variance at Penn & First Street area. Report was that principal backers and financiers vis E. R. Gehrke and E. C. Williams announced thru Mr. Gehrke that they had lost interest and had withdrawn from the project and inasmuch as the original application for a variance had been made on their behalf, the matter was tabled by the Commission. Under new business the matter of the Cities acquisition of property on the south side of Fmnt Street between Oak and Cherry Streets was again brought up for consideration. Chairman read the letter from Mr. M. W. Slankard City ,Magager setting forth the councils thinking on the matter. After a general discussion, a motion was unanimously passed that the Planning Commission recommend to the City Council that the City proceed with the purchase of the property from the Port of Port Angeles, vis Lots 2 thru 10, Block 14, for the purpose of building a light department service and maintenance garage and to provide for as much off-street public parking as possible. After further discussion of the off-street parking problem especially with relation to number of spaces oocupied by amployees of downtown stores and the impact this creates on our limited area, meeting adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
