Members present were Hampton, Reiners, Rodda and strange. Also present was City ~ngineer Ahlvers. There was considerable discussion with relation to the Wheeler Hardware Company proposal for an exchange of lots with the City. Action was postponed until a later date when more data would be available. The chairman made a report on his talk to the Chamber of Commerce with reference to the grading through of Laurel Street from First Street to Second Street, stating that he had told the Chamber of Commerce that, in the opinion of the Planning Commission, the proposal was not practical. That the cost of the improvement would far exceed the benefits to be derived. There was general agreement with the ehairmans position. The chairman introduced a traffic plan which had been submitted to him by City Manager Vergeer as an idea from which a study could be made of the feasibility and desirability of creating one way traffic streets through our business section. A considerable length of time was spent in discussing the plan and the first reaction of the Planning Commission was that it would be better to delay a matter of this kind until our street arterial program was complete ~nd a study could be made of its possible influence on traffic, however, it was decided that it would probably be a good idea to discuss the plan ~ith small groups to get their reaction prior to an overall hearing on the matter. It was decided the chairman could present the plan probably to the Chamber of Commerce to get their reaction. Mr. Rodda reported purchasing a home with the intent of moving outside the City limits and discussed tendering his resignation as a member of our commission. The members expressed regret at losing Mr. rtodda as a member of our board. No rurther business appearing, meeting was adjourned at 9:30 P.M. Respectfully submitted, f-l e .Ji;:J ~ ,4If cc to G. S.
