Minutes of the regular meeting of the City of Port Angeles Planning Commission, May 18th, 1954. . ~ Members present were Stewart, Gort, Hampton, Reiners, McGee and Strange. Also present was City ~nglneer Ahlvers. Minutes of the regular meeting of May 4th were read and approved. 'e Under the heading of unfinished business, the matter of the application of the Louis Elterich Company for a variation in our zoning ordinance in the vicinity of ~econd and Race Streets was again brought up for discussion. After going into the matter thogoughly, it was regularly moved, seconded and unanimously passed that the application be denied. It was further suggested that inasmuch as the application had been denied, that the Louis Elterich Company be notified to take proper steps to clean up the premises. Another matter under unfinished business, was further study on the application of Guy Bellinger Sr. for approval of a platt of a subdivision of the South one-half of suburban Lot-77 of Port Angeles townsite. Several members of the Commission voiced their disapproval of the proposed platt which suggests the elimination of an alley. The main objection being that the subdivision would be adjacent to other properties which correspond to the usual layout of our City and the~efor would in the future cause confusion etc. The absence of an alley was the only objection raised and after this discussion, it was unanimously passed that the Planning Commission recommend that the platt as submitted be disapproved. Under the heading of new business, the application of School District #17 for the vacation of 9th Street from "Bn to "C" Streets was read and a thorough discussion followed, mainly pointing up the fact that it is probably better to vacate a thorough-fare rather than being constantly called upon to barricade the same as a safety measure. After muc~ diSCUSSion, it was unanimously passed that the Planning Commission recommend to the City Council that this application be granted and that the City include therein the provision for rights of way for public utilites. The chainman made a report to the members of the Commission on the progress to date of the proposed enlarged improvement district (Tumwater Road et a1). After a general discussion, the meeting adjourned at 9:00 P.M. Respectfully submitted, :p- t? 417 .~ /' ~ ---- . cc to G. s. Vergeer
