Members present were McGee, Reiners, Hankins, Hampton and Strange. pDesent was City Engineer John Warder. Also Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. First order of business was the consideration of an application of E. R. Gehrke for the vacation of the alley in Block 216, townsite. This block is located adjacent to Lauridson Boulevard in the south-east corner of the townsite. Gehrke being the owner of all lots abutting on the alley. A committee composed of McGee and strange had investigated this application and determined that the major portion of this alley is in White Creek Gulch and therefor unusable. The only I#i~# usable portion of the alley is about 120 feet which has been made available to use by Mr. Gehrke in his extensive excavation work. The committee reported that inasmuch as the alley is un- usable for all time, due to the topography, they recommend to the Planning Commission that the application be approved. It was then duly unanimously passed by the Planning Commission that theyrecommend to the City Council that this application be approved with the City reserving the usual rights of way for public utilities. . The request of Mr. Arthur Moody to build a home and install a trailer on Lots 8 & 9, BlOCk 211 was discussed at some length. No action was taken as the members wished to further survey the area. A general discussion was had relative to the area between Caroline and Georgiana and adjacent to Race Streets, on whether the policy should be to reclassify portions of this area from First Residence to Second Business to allow further expansion of doctors clinic buildings. No aegion was taken at this time as the members wished to further survey the area. A general discussion was had on the advisability of creating an LID to pave the alley thru block 387 townsite and it was generally agreed that the members of the Planning Commission consider this too small a project to warrant the creating of an LID, taking into consideration the excessive cats involved. The Commission again discussed the advisability of a "stop and gou traffic light at 8th and Cherry Streets and it was the unanimous recommendation of the ~lanning Commission that we urge the City Council to ask the State Highway Department to conduct a traffic count at that intersection to determine the need for a traffic control of this type. No further business appearing, meeting adjourned at 9:30 P.M. Respectfully submitted, ) ~ cc to G. S. Vergeer cc to H. E. Dodge ~
