PLANNING COMMISSION Port Angeles, Washington July 27, 1988 I CALL TO ORDER Chairman Wight called the meeting to order at 7:15 PM. II ROLL CALL Members Present: Jerry Glass, Larry Leonard, Jerry cornell, Bob Philpott, Donna Davison-Ness, Dick Wight. Members Absent: Jim Hulett. Staff Present: Paul D. Carr, otto Miller. III APPROVAL OF MINUTES . Mr. Cornell moved to approve the minutes of the July 13, 1988, meeting as corrected. Ms. Davison-Ness seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. IV PLANNING STUDIES 1. Adult Residential Care Mr. Miller provided a brief review of the most recent information memo. The Commission discussed the multi-family aspects of adult care facilities; i.e., the increased density, and the possibility of considering them as rezones rather than conditional uses. The Commission also discussed the ability to impose conditions and controls to protect the single-family residential areas through the Conditional Use Permit process, as currently proposed in the draft ordinance. Following further discussion, Mr. Cornell moved to direct staff to set a public hearing for the second meeting in August, and delete references to boarding homes in the draft legislation, thereby strengthening the emphasis on adult care facilities. Mr. Leonard seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. V COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC None. . VI STAFF REPORTS Mr. Carr distributed a copy of a newspaper article. . PLANNING COMMISSION July 27, 1988 Page 2 VIr REPORTS OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Cornell requested staff investigate to make sure that the Sun Break Tanning Lounge advertises parking in the rear.
