Present: Hunt, McHone, Hankins, Treat, Dilling, Driscoll, Anderson, Building Inspector Willson. Absent: None Meeting was opened in the Municipal Chambers at 7:30 P.M. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as received. . Old Business Eleanor Priest had requested the vacation of the alley in Block 186 Townsite. Memos from the various City departments concerned had been received. None of the departments had any objections to this vacation except the Light Department. The Light Department had requested that the east~2'O feet of the alley not be vacated because of the service lines in there. It was voted to recommend that the west 220 feet, only, of this alley be vacated. Anderson Ford Company had requested the vacation of the alley in Block 16 Puget Sound Cooperative Colony Addition. Memos from the various departments concerned had been received. None of the departments had ~ny objections to the vacation as long as all utility rights easements were reserved. The Light Department questioned the feasibility of providing future service to the area north of Front Street and east of Whites Creek Canyon, if this alley were vacated. The Planning Commission voted to table this request until plans of the proposed operation are presented and agreement reached with the Light Department in regards to construction and maintenance of electric utilities. New Business Lois Wayland, 302 Whidby, had requested a variance to permit the enlargement of a pre-existing, non-conforming single family residence in an RS-7 zone. After a short discussion, it was voted to recommend approval of this request as presented. A. E. Rambo, 413 Orcas Ave., had requested a variance to permit the enlargement of a pre-existinq, non-conforming single family residence in an RS-7 zone. Following a brief discussion it was voted to recommend approval of this request as presented. A. A. Roblan, 1022 East 8th Street had requested a variance to permit him to construct a carport closer to the alley than permitted in an RS-7 zone. After a lengthy discussion it was voted to recommend approval of this request, provided that ingress and egress rom the carport will be from the east side only and that the existing fence will not be removed to permit use of the carport directly onto the alley in the future. Fred Frobese of 1712 East 2nd Street, had applied for approval to install a mobile home for living quarters on Lot 3 Block 117 F.G.Richards Subdivision. This is on the south side of 2nd Street in the East 1700 Block, an RS-7 zone. Following a lengthy discussion it was voted to recommend the request be denied. Fred Frobese requests a variance from zoning regulations which would permit installation and occupancy of a mobile home in an R5-7 zone, located on the south side of Second Street in the 1700 block east. . --
