Minutes of the regular meetinl of the Port An?le. Planning Com-
mission October 18th, 19~~.
Members pre~ent were Anderson, Dilling, Hankins, Hunt, Treat
and Stran~e. Absent Driscoll. Also present were Director of Public
horks Tohn B. .iarder and Building Inspector Robert ~\'1lhon.

The first order of bUliness was consideration of the applica-
tion of Wn. O. Denni. for a variance from the Zonin~ R~~ulation
that would permit the construction of a private residence with les5
than the ~et ~ack required in a First Residential Zone. Property
identified AS lots 19 and 20 Block 145 Townsite located approxi~
mately at 4th and "L" Streets. The railroad riJht of way and top
of the bluff rpstrict the area .uit~ble for building. Variances
allow!n18 10 foot set back lnsteid of the 25 feet required have been
allowed on ad1ecent property,8R 8 matter of record, Mr. Dennis

act. It was the opinion of the Plannin'J Commission the same
variance he allowed, namely a 10 foot 5pt back with both lots 19
and 20 to be con81d~r~rl a~ one bulldln) site. A motion was passed

broulht out a fill could be m~jp and a concrete walk poured which
would be permissible. This type of construction however wruld not

Commbs81on con!l;ldered the protests from five lot owners, objectln9
to the ~ppllcation and after discussion it was determined the

a ~otion was unanimously passed r.commendin~ to the City Council
the application be approved.
Considerable time and ~tudy was liven to the tentatively
proposed p18n of the 'entral 13uslness Oi.trict by the John ";raham
Company.
