Members present were Anderson, Driscoll, Hankins, Hunt, McGee, Reiners and Strange. Also present was City Engineer John Warder and Department of Commerce and Economic Developement representative Allan N deLaubenfe~ Minutes of the last rr.ee~ing were read and approved. First order of business was to conduct a hearing on the application of Mr. H. M. McGee for a variance from the zoning ordinance on Lot-5, Block 294, townsite to permit the construction of a car port to be located on the side of Valley Street Gulch, but less than 25 feet hold back from 9th Street. Chairman read letter from Mr. Paul Reed, Building Inspector, stating property had been properly posted as per ordinance #1323. No one appeared at the hearing other than Mr. McGee and after general discussion, especially as to the remote location, the members could see no objection. A motion was unanimously passed recommending to the City Council the application be approved. Chairman then brought up the matter of compensation to Phyllis Gardner for clerical and stenographic help for the past year. A motion was unanimously passed approving an amount of $50.00 be paid Mrs. Gardner. Mr. M. G. Poole, being present, the members then entered into a work and study period on the Planning work being conducted by Mr. Poole under the planning contract with the City. The work on the first phase of the plan being nearly completed. During this time, Mr. deLaubenfels spoke to the members regarding future planntmg and pledged his depart- ment to help in any way possible. Mr. Poole asked the members of the Planning Commission and City Council to attend a joint meeting with the County, PUD, School District # 21 and Port of Port Angeles on November 20th next. Meeting to be held in the Central Service Building of School District # 21. It was agreed to make an effort to attend the meeting and our members would invite the members of the City Council to attend. No further business' appearing, meeting adjoured at 10:00 P.M.
