Tabled at last meeting. Protest petitions have been received and we are in the process of looking up legal descriptions. There are reputedly 110 properties represented by 185 signatures and we hope to have them verified by Monday night. The City Attorney tells me there is no limit to the area from which protests can be submitted in a rezoning hearing. New Business Mr. Ray Robinson has requested a Conditional Use Permit to allow him to construct a duplex on the south side of Park Avenue between Laurel and Oak Streets. This is an RS-7 zone. There will be two sessions, one at 7:30 PM 11/1~/70 and one at 9:30 AM 11118/70, both in Port Angeles. It is anticipated there will be a dozen or more women at each meeting. Present: Chairman Hunt, McHone, Sannes, Treat, Anderson, Dilling, Young and Secretary Willson. Absent: None The meeting was opened at 7:30 P.M. in the Municipal Chambers. Minutes of the previous meeting were received. Mr. McHone wished to have the minutes of the previous meeting corrected toshow the vote on the mobile home variance requested by Karen McFarland to show the iinal vote was five in favor, one opposed. The correction was approved and noted. Minutes of th~ October 26th,1970 meeting were then accepted as corrected. Old Business - The Chairman announced the hearing would continue on the rezoning of the area between Peabody Street and Peabody Canyon from Lauridsen Boulevard to Whidby and Park Avenues. Approximately 75 persons were in attendance. A petition of approximately 194 siJnatures was submitted protesting this rezoning. A protest map had been prepared showing the distribution of protests in the vicinity, but the secretary cautioned the map/~~1y relative, as late signatures were not represented, nor those in which the legal description or ownership had not been verified. A lengthy discussion followed and touched on over crowding, traffic congestion, lack of parks and play- grounds in this area, manner of notifying the public of hearings. After all interested parties had been offered an opportunity to be heard, the chairman announced the hearing was closed. It was moved and voted (6-0) to recommend this rezonin~ not be approved. The Chairman then brought the application for rezoning Lots 6-10 inclusive Block 11 and Lots 11-16 inclusive Block 16 Puget Sound Coop. Colony 2nd Addition off the table for 'consideration. The Chairman then closed the hearing and it was voted to recomr.1end the. request ,to rezone thi"s property from RS-7 to RMF be denied. (5-1). " , New Business - One Conditional Use permit had been applied for and properiy posted for hearin~ at this time. A protest pe ti ti on had been submi t ted in the af ternoon (11/9170) bu t the protest map had not been completed. It was voted to table the request until the next meeting. Other Business - A request for rezoning'Suburban Lot 39 was received and scheduled for hearing at the Nov. 23, 1970 meeting. No information had been submitted with the letter of application. Planning Commission members felt it would be desirable not to schedule the hearing by the Planning Commission and City Council so close together on future rezones as a postponement for study by the Planning Commission creates problems for both bodies as well as for the applicant. A letter was received from Anthony R. Galgano thanking the Planning Commission and City Council for their favorable action on his request for a variance to utilize a travel trailer for living quarters . e . Commission members Sannes and Young indicated they had accepted a request by the League of Women Voters to talk at meetings scheduled for 7:30 P.M.
