When capping or plugging all tank openings, use screwed plugs and a leave 1/8 -inch vent hole in one plug to allow for temperature expansion. Before venting operations are started, remove ignition sources (including electrical equipment) from the. vicinity. The dry ice should be crushed and evenly distributed over the greatest possible area to secure rapid evaporation. This process does not ensure a gas -free tank. The tank shall not be welded upon unless tested and certified by a qualified engineer. The tank shall be made inert twice prior to being transported. The tank shall be inspected by the Fire Department Inspector prior to being transported.
