Dear Excellence onthe Waterfront Awards Jury,

Having learned of the call for nominations for this year's Waterfront Center awards program, I
am writing today to endorse LIVIN Architects' application for the Waterfront Development in
Downtown Port Angeles. In no small part due to their assistance, the City of Port Angeles was
able to extensively engage the public in the support and implementation of redevelopment of
the City's downtown shoreline area. The plan successfully directs complete restoration and

redevelopment through a placemaking perspective to inspire private investment in the
community's central downtown. The increased activity and enjoyment of the downtown and its

waterfront has resulted in the provision of jobs and an increase in tourist activity.

In 2012, the Port Angeles Waterfront k4asterp|an was recognized by the American Institute of
Architects Washington Council in the Unbuilt Category for Excellence In Civic Design. Moving

forward through the completion of Phase One of the Port Angeles Waterfront Development, the
City has continued to ensure the highest quality of design and architectural detail available.

The City of Port Angeles is proud of the public oriented process that delivered a waterfront

development that focuses on sustainability, cultural and ecological education, and recreation.
The completion of Phase One of the Port Angeles Waterfront Development is a testament to the
community's continuing commitment to environmental restoration, provision of active and
passive recreation opportunities, investment in community economic and development, and
both the architectural and planning process.
