The STA program is the only nationally recognized compost specific testing and labeling program. It was developed over a period of several years, through a consensus process, by the nation's leading compost research scientists. It identifies a composter who seeks to establish and maintain the highest standards in quality control, product testing and information disclosure. It represents professionalism and integrity in your business practices. Please feel free to use the STA logo on all of your promotional literature and any place else that is appropriate. It is a program that you can be proud to be a part of! I also encourage you to participate in our Consumer Compost Use Program, which takes your STA data to the next step and certifies it (assuming your compost meets the approved characteristics) for 3 classes of compost use. They are; lawns, flower & vegetable gardens and trees & shrubs. The USCC is promoting these nationally to consumers and professionals alike, and we believe that they will become the 'go to' standard for easy identification of quality compost products!
