City Council June 19, 2015 Ron Allen, Chairman/CEO Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe 1033 Old Blyn Highway Sequim, WA 98382 Dear Ron, The City would like to thank you and the Jamestown S'Klallam Tribal Council, for the warm welcome we received during our recent visit to your meeting on Monday, June 15`h. We greatly appreciated the positive comments and recognition on the City's efforts to improve our waterfront. It is our goal that this project will not only be an asset for visitors and residents, but it will also instill a greater sense of pride that may increase private sector investment in our downtown area. Most important, we sincerely appreciate the feedback received from our discussion of Indigenous People's Day. We feel it would be beneficial to highlight the contributions of our native culture that has significantly influenced our community, and continues to do so. In addition, a dedicated day of recognition would help identify the importance of our community's diversity and would also encourage a greater recognition of the original inhabitants of our area. In closing, we thank you again for the kindness shown to our staff and look forward to taking the steps necessary to honor the members of our community in a very special and most deserving way by dedicating a day to our native population. On a side note, we would like to congratulate you on becoming the Nation's first tribal community to receive Bicycle Friendly recognition.
