HomeMy WebLinkAboutDeputy Brooks & Morris Proclamation OF VOR7q^, L 0 Fs PROCLAMATION In Recognition of THE PUBLIC SERVICE OF Deputy Steve Brooks & Deputy Eric Morris WHEREAS, Clallam County Sheriffs Department Deputies Steve Brooks and Eric Morris have been exemplary partners with the City of Port Angeles. Both deputies supervise the daily operations of the Clallam County Sheriffs Department Chain Gang; and WHEREAS, Steve and Eric have responded to numerous requests for help in cleaning up trash from various outdoor encampments throughout the City. These cleanup projects have included areas north and south of Front Street, Valley Creek, the Tumwater Street Viaduct and Peabody Creek. The Chain Gang has also removed weeds and vegetation from the Police Department parking lot and grounds; and WHEREAS, they have offered the assistance of the Chain Gang for additional projects this surmner. Year to date, the Chain Gang has removed more than 15,000 pounds of trash. The clean-up is a noticeable improvement for the City's quality of life and they provide clean-up services above the normal City capacity; and WHEREAS, some of this trash is hazardous and there are long term negative impacts to the enviromnent should these areas remain impacted. Once again, City residents are able to walk along Peabody and Valley Creek without the presence of trash and debris. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Patrick Downie, Deputy Mayor, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF PORT ANGELES, do hereby RECOGNIZE the efforts of Deputy Steve Brooks and Deputy Erik Morris to the City and community; their work does not go unnoticed. We look forward to continued contributions made by the Clallam County Sheriffs Department Chain Gang, assisted through the faithful efforts of Deputies Brooks and Morris.
