HomeMy WebLinkAboutJess W. Doenges Dear Council, I come before you most humble FEB tj I'm a bit nervous, and I just might mumble, but this town divided will not stand! 2 oI 6 1 invite us all to simplify and understand each other perhaps identify some core principle to discover. CITY GI- FOR I AN'ELES CITY CL FL„< For While everyone is on guard, I have seen such little regard... for the principle of liberty. For informed consent.. which dissent may not reproach. I approach you now with revolution in puberty. May cooler heads prevail, and unveil what keeps us all in common. May the council avail themselves away from modern dental shaman. No, no, Not completely.. but neither discretely-in relation to an end-all to education... That's too high of a concentration. There's a lot more to it than that. I might have picked a side in this fight! but, I am not an anti-dentite! I have no venom for them. And their voices Should be heard, just not as sole choices for what's best for the herd. Although I do understand without fail that most everything is a sliding scale. When it comes to mass medication, and I know that's not the official definition. But when The rendition of the context changes between their'pro' and their'con', That might be a sign that SOMETHING is going on. So call it what it is, and then get informed consent. Only then will there be nothing to vent. Only then will rights not be infringed... only then will the town not come unhinged. Mr. Whetham, I appreciate you being there for this cause. You're the champ of democracy! so the majority makes the laws. But I wish even you would give pause and wonder if that very principle is a relative blunder in this particular case. Mr. Gase, you seem most confident in your place. I don't sense a sense of anything you can't erase. I only wonder what principle you're using that justifies a deeper principle's abusing. .You are at peace with the science so your conscience is clear. But even if you, and they, are right, there is much more than that to fear. To every elder member, I know you remember a time in your lives when doctors were trusted. Times have changed, and now the industry reigns and simple truths have oxidized.. and rusted. You complain of general apathy and of scientific ignorance. But what cured their apathy is diligent research and intelligence... About something that directly affects them. Public policy is always behind the science, as science is ever-changing. We must be sure, before we allow liberty a seance, or let individual rights have re-arranging. Mr. Mayor, may I dare say to your face a certain skew? But first I'll say, that in nearly every way, I've agreed with you. If this pointed intention.. if this massive attention was paid to all our issues.. We would have more solutions than Kleenex has tissues. Shoddy are revolutions with only angry voices that dictate our choices And any bets we make on threats will surely be handicapped to lose. But sometimes, Mayor, if I may, when we're right, we can still be wrong in how we choose to respond, because of the different scales of accountability. You took a big responsibility by taking that seat and I respect that suite and I do not deflect from the heat you've taken. But if I'm not mistaken, it's precisely because of that, that you should concisely never be part of any rift. that you should not react to any poisoned crowd's gift. More than anyone else, it can not be about you. I surmise You may even reason this to be true. I do not disguise my empathy for you, but you have not my pity. You signed on for what is best for the people of this city. Now, before you shush my cries, Please let me summarize. I cry for the core principle of liberty while I adore the steps you took diligently. I cry for the core principle of liberty, admittedly not invincible in and of itself. But the advisory ballot, the mincible comments, and the education were a quality trifecta with which to arrive at the station... To THEN balance it against liberty and informed consent. before you board that train of legislation with Any intent. Because when the benefits are marginal and when even other hidden and plain costs exist. I question the point of any of us being forced to resist. So, I respectfully insist on this town's therapy and to end the fuss. k and I beg all of you, as well as all of us.. to use the assist.. and not to resist.. the principle of liberty. Thank you for your kind eyes and thanks for your time. I truly apologize... for speaking in rhyme. f 04 C1411j+ 111--fo W-0 Pv)9 4AQ c-)W r
