Dear Mr. Bristol, Since 1996, the Coast Guard Group Port Anleles has served as the site for the Regional Veterans Day observance. It is the City's honor and pleasure to again request that Coast Guard Group Port Angeles be designated as the observance site for 201 1. Each year, the citizens of the North Olrnpic Peninsula have gathered in Port Angeles to honor the men and women who faith-frrlly served in the armed forces. I1 is important to our community to pay tribute to all veterans who have served our country and defended its freedom. The Coast Guard Air Station is an ideal site for the celebration, and the Coast Guard personnel have been most gracious hosts to the community. We look forward to the 201 I Veterans Day observance, as iiis our oppornrnity to collectively tecognize the loyal veterans who have served on our behal f. S yours, t Daniel A. DrarPtavarlo#/J) c>'- I wish to express my sincere appreciation to you and the other city ofEcials ofthe City of Victoria for hosting the City of Port Angeles last week. We felt very welcome and so appreciated your hospitality and the opportrrnity for our Counciis to meet together. This meeting was productive and helped lay the groundwork for several areas to work on together and to address in more detail in the future. For example, the idea of a cooperative approach in marketing both the Victoria and Olympic Peninsula areas to tourists especially appears to have a lot of merit. As mentioned at the meeting, Port Algeles would Iike to host your city this coming Sepember when our community celebrates the removal of the dams on the Elwha River as part ofthe Elwha River Restoration Project. A regional conference on altemate energy will be held at Peninsula College prior to the dam removal ceremonies and we hope that the City of Victoria can attend this conference. We will send you additional information regarding these activities in the next 60 days so that you can get these dates on your calendars. It is our hope that the recent meeting represents a renewed effort in continuing to build a positive working relationship between our two cities. I believe that our cities have a lot to share and we can learn so much from each other. Respectfully, 1! Daniel A.
