As a Council, we wish to offer our support for your efforts to pursue the designation of C'lallani
County as a Coast Gunn-d Coz� munity. Weuphold our commitment as partners with the Coast
Guard and welcome their members and their families into our community. The United States
Coast (guard has maintained a presence on the Olympic Peninsula since 186 , and we have
celebrated over 150 years ofcommunity between Port Angeles and the Coast Guard. Their
/ presence is an important part of our civic, economic, and community life.

The City of Port Angeles, it's citizens,and organizations, have supported the Coast Guard in a.

wide variety of ways, sharing its' successes, challenges and celebrations. This prestigious
' designation will recognize the longstanding history and relationship between the City of Port
Angeles and the Coast Guard, as well as honor an entitythat has watched over the safety of our
shores.
The Port Angeles City Council endorses, supports and encourages the submission of this Coast
Guard Community designation through the stipulated process and respectfully requests approval
of this designation. The designation will highlight our special relationship with the Coast Guard
in our community, welcoming and supporting all present and future Coast Guard personnel who
proudly serve our community,our State and our Nation.
We appreciate the service of the men and women wvho have served in the United States Coast
Guard: past,present and future. This designation will help us to increase our celebration and
expand our cornmitmert to this important relationship.
