CALL TO ORDER — SPECIAL MEETING
Chairperson Shargel called the special meeting of the Port Angeles Parks, Recreation & Beautification
Commission to order at 3:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Members Present: Chairperson Shargel, Vice Chairperson Stratton, Commissioners Young, Knowles, Pittis and
Merritt.
Members Absent: Commissioner Forrest.
Staff Present: Director Delikat and Acting Secretary A. Cariello.
PUBLIC COMMENT
None.
LEGISLATION
1. Lincoln Park Field #1 Renaming
Director Delikat discussed with the Commission that Port Angeles lost a community leader, an advocate of
youth baseball & softball, and someone who volunteered and served as president of North Olympic Baseball
and Softball. Jim Lunt passed on August 25`" at the age of 71. To honor his commitment to volunteerism,
improvements to the Lincoln Park ballfields, and all he did for the children of the community, the City of Port
Angeles would like to honor Mr. Jim Lunt for all of his community efforts:
It was moved by Stratton and seconded by Pittis to approve the following Staff recommendation:
1) Authorize the approval to rename Lincoln Park Field #1 to the "Jim Lunt Memorial Field"; and (2)
recommend the City Council waive section 4.8 & 5.10 of the Parks & Recreation Naming/Renaming of
Public Facilities Policy, which will expedite the renaming process, so that the field can be dedicated to
the Lunt Family during the September 27`" Celebration of Life at Lincoln Park.
Motion carried 6-0. Commissioner Forrest, who was not present, did write a letter of support for the
renaming.
ADJOURNMENT
Chairperson Shargel adjourned the meeting at 3:19 p.m.
