CALL TO ORDER — REGULAR MEETING:
Chairperson Shargel called the regular meeting of the Parks, Recreation & Beautification Commission to order at 6:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL:
Members Present: Chairperson Shargel; Commissioners Forrest, Peterson, Pittis, and Young; Student Representative Brandon.
Members Absent: Vice Chairperson Stratton; Student Representative Palenga.
Staff Present: Director Delikat and Secretary Boone.
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES:
It was moved by Forrest and seconded by Peterson to: approve the minutes of the December 17, 2015 regular meeting.
Motion carried 5 - 0.
PUBLIC COMMENT:
None.
FINANCE:
1. Director Delikat recapped the 2015 year-end expenditure and revenue reports for the Commission.
LATE ITEMS:
1. The Commission used this time to conduct an interview with a Commission applicant, Port Angeles resident Matthew Kirsch.
2. Director Delikat provided the Commissioners with copies of the Community Memorial Wall Policy and asked them to review
it and send him a list of any recommended changes in the next couple of weeks.

None.
DIRECTOR'S REPORT (PowerPoint Presentation):
1. Vern Burton Memorial Wall Plaque Unveiling
Director Delikat told the Commission the event to celebrate Vern Burton's placement on the Community Memorial Wall will
be at noon on January 30, 2016. Delikat said that he, Mayor Downie, Chairperson Shargel, and family members will be
attending.
2. Parks & Recreation Facebook Page
Director Delikat shared the new Parks & Recreation Department Facebook page with the Commission. He informed the
Commission that a company called Social Archive is managing the records maintenance for the City's social media accounts.
3. 2016 Commission Applicants
Director Delikat said there will be five interviews for Commission applicants during the February meeting.
4. 2016 Work Plan
Director Delikat reviewed the work plans for the Parks & Recreation Department for 2016. He covered details about the
projects that the Parks Maintenance crew will focus on, as well as facilities, recreation, and administration.
5. Athletic Field Use Policy
Director Delikat reviewed the draft Athletic Field Use Policy with the Commissioners. He informed the Commissioners that
they were to review the policy and get comments back to him no later than Friday January 291h. Commissioner Forrest
requested to have a vote on the adoption of the policy during the February meeting.
6. Future Items
a. 2016 CFP
b. Concussion presentation from Port Angeles School District Athletic Director Dwayne Johnson
c. Civic Field lights and City Pier float project updates
7. Questions/Comments
Chairperson Shargel asked the Commissioners to arrive at 5:00 p.m. for the February meeting so that Commission applicant
interviews can begin at 6:00 p.m. Director Delikat said a special notice will be published about the time change.
ADJOURNMENT:
Chairperson Shargel adjourned the meeting at 6:55 p.m.
Next meeting is Thursday,J=ebruary 18, 2016, in the Vern Burton Memorial Community Center meeting room #3 at 5:00 p.m.
