Jan. 8 Date:Tuesday, January 07, 2020 4:48:11 AM ***EXTERNAL EMAIL*** Thank you for the reminder of the 1/8/20 meeting of the City of PA Climate Planning group. My wife and I are out of state, so I will not be able to attend the Wed. meeting. For the record my comments are basically the same as I submitted prior to the first meeting of the group. I favor conducting a carbon inventory and utilization of the ICLEI five step process. I also strongly urge the City to participate in North Olympic Peninsula regional collaboration with the City of Port Townsend, the City of Sequim, Jefferson County, and other local governments and tribal governments which are committed to addressing climate change mitigation and adaptation. The two- County study of climate change vulnerabilities and adaptation (conducted with Adaptation International) and the climate change synopsis prepared by former PA Mayor Sissi Bruch (Dec., 2019), provide significant baseline information to proceed. I would appreciate being retained as a member of the PA Climate planning group. Thank you. mike doherty On Friday, January 3, 2020, 09:12:41 AM PST, Benjamin Stanley <bwstanley@gmail.com> wrote: Hi all, Just wanted to send a quick reminder that our next climate planning meeting will be held next Wednesday 1/8 at 5 PM. We will again be soliciting public comment on the direction our climate planning process should take, including whether we should conduct a carbon inventory. The city has been closely tallying public opinion for and against an inventory and other planning ideas, so please make sure that your opinion is recorded. We hope to get feedback from as wide a swath of our community as possible - including those who may be opposed, like those who have recently come out against ICLEI and sustainability planning at county meetings - so please spread the word about these meetings if you can. We plan to hold at least one more meeting to solicit public comment on this, probably during the morning of Jan. 22, to ensure others can attend who normally cannot attend in evenings. You can also express your opinion at any time by writing a quick email to Ben Braudrick at the City's Department of Community and Economic Development (Bbraudri@cityofpa.us). Although our first steps here are pretty dry - essentially to determine the scope of our climate planning going forward - we are also open to any creative input or planning ideas you have. Feel free to come and share your vision for a resilient future! Best regards, Ben Stanley Chair, City of Port Angeles Planning Commission and Climate Planning Subcommittee
