HomeMy WebLinkAbout2/20/20 MinutesPage 1 of 1 PORT ANGELES PARKS, RECREATION & BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION MEETING Port Angeles, Washington February 20, 2020 CALL TO ORDER – SPECIAL MEETING: Commissioner Sinton called the meeting to order at 5:45 p.m. a) Interview: The Commissioners used this time to interview one candidate for one of two vacancies on the Commission. b) Legislation: Following the interviews and a brief discussion of the applicant, Commissioner Sinton made a motion to reappoint Iris Winslow to the Parks, Recreation & Beautification Commission for a term beginning March 2020 through February 2024. Commissioner Tucker seconded the motion which passed unanimously. CALL TO ORDER – REGULAR MEETING: Chair Winslow called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. ROLL CALL: Members Present: Student Representative Folsom; Commissioners Forrest, Kirsch, Sinton, Tucker, Wojnowski; Chair Winslow. Members Absent: Student Representative Jacobsen; Commissioner Milburn. Staff Present: Director Delikat & Secretary Straits. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: It was moved by Commissioner Tucker and seconded by Commissioner Kirsch to approve the December 19, 2019 meeting minutes. The motion passed unanimously. It was moved by Commissioner Wojnowski and seconded by Commissioner Kirsch to approve the February 13, 2020 Special Meeting Minutes. The motion passed unanimously. LATE ITEMS: None. PUBLIC COMMENT: None. FINANCE & PACKET ITEMS: Director Delikat reviewed the current Revenues and Expenditures Report. LEGISLATION: None. GUEST SPEAKERS: Aubry Bright, Senior Center Manager: Manager Bright provided the Commission with an update on the recent changes and improvements taking place at the Port Angeles Senior Center. DIRECTOR’S REPORT: 1. Departmental Updates: a) Commission Appointments: There continues to be one opening available on the Parks, Recreation & Beautification Commission. Director Delikat thanked Commissioner Sinton for her service on the Commission. Commission appointments will be discussed further at the next meeting. b) Civic Field Scoreboard: The Parks & Recreation Department is looking into replac ing the current scoreboard at Civic Field for approximately $27,000. c) Olympic Discovery Trail Update: The City was able to enlist assistance from Clallam County to perform an emergency repair at several locations along the Olympic Discovery Trail. Detailed information regarding the repairs was relayed to the Commission. d) Dream Playground ADA Components: Director Delikat provided the Commission with a list of ADA components to be incorporated at the Generation II Dream Playground. e) Playground Removal: Playground removal has been completed at the following City Parks: Hazel Port er Keil, Wolverton, City Pier, and Charles Willson Memorial Park. f) Project & Maintenance Updates: Director Delikat provided the Commission with updates on various projects and happenings within the Parks & Recreation Department. ADJOURNMENT: Chairperson Winslow adjourned the meeting at 7:00 p.m. The next meeting will be held on March 19, 2020 in the City Council Chambers. Iris Winslow, Chairperson Jessica Straits, Secretary
