HomeMy WebLinkAbout11.18.21 MinutesPage 1 of 1 PORT ANGELES PARKS, RECREATION & BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION MEETING Port Angeles, Washington November 18, 2021 CALL TO ORDER – REGULAR MEETING: Commissioner Forrest called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. ROLL CALL: Members Present: Commissioners McGuire, Cripe, Hodgson, Forrest & Student Representative Glore. Members Absent: Commissioners Harp, Collins & Milburn. Staff Present: Director Delikat & Secretary Straits. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Commissioner Hodgson moved to approve the October 21, 2021 minutes. Commissioner Cripe seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. LATE ITEMS: None. PUBLIC COMMENT: None. FINANCE & PACKET ITEMS: Director Delikat reviewed the current Revenues and Expenditures Report. LEGISLATION: None. GUEST SPEAKERS: None. DIRECTOR’S REPORT: 1. Departmental Updates a) Lincoln Park BMX Gold Cup Event: Lincoln Park BMX was awarded hosting responsibilities for the Gold Cup Series. Director Delikat discussed this major event and described application process for hosting. b) LTAC Funds: The Parks & Recreation Department was recently awarded $60K from the City for the Volunteer Field Turf Project. The department was also awarded $60K from Clallam County. Additionally, Parks & Recreation was awarded $45K for AAU Basketball Tournaments in 2022. Finally, Lincoln Park BMX was also awarded $100K in County LTAC funds. c) Volunteer Field/Joint Public Safety Facility: Director Delikat discussed the possibility of the Volunteer Practice Field as the site for a new Joint Public Safety Facility. d) Banner Contract: The contract with ASM Signs ends on 12/31/21. An RFP has been submitted in hopes of continuing the banner program in 2022. e) Olympic Discovery Trail: Director Delikat provided updates on the Olympic Discovery Trail work, including 9 recently approved permits by the Department of Fish & Wildlife. Trail work is expected to begin on December 10, 2021. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the City of Port Angeles and Peninsula Trails Coalition will be taken to City Council on December 7, 2021. f) Float Damage: A moorage float was significantly damaged during a recent easterly storm. Parks & Recreation is currently waiting on an estimate for repair. g) Holiday Tree: A holiday tree was donated by the Port of Port Angeles. The Parks & Recreation Department will decorate the tree. However, a formal tree lighting ceremony will not be held by the Port Angeles Downtown Association this year. h) Port Angeles Municipal Code Update: Director Delikat continued a discussion on the Port Angeles Municipal Code update. i) December Commission Meeting: The Commission has met the meeting requirements for 2021 and will not require a meeting in December. Commissioner Hodgson made a motion to excuse the December 2021 meeting. Commissioner McGuire seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
