Thanks bill Sue Roberds 11/01/04 11:35AM Bill, I don't think Hirst is going to really understand the situation unless he is faced with a fine. However, having said that, we certainly would rather him abate so it would probably be a good plan to give him a SHORT timeline and then fine. He will clean it up, he just won't keep it clean, and I think he may be running a mechanicing or junk business there where he uses the junk. He should be sent a letter to clean up by say, November 24th, and if not, go straight to the fine process. Did this help? Despite written notification and personal contact with City officials, the nuisance situation continues. Earlier in the year, you were notified that junk vehicles stored on your property constitutes a violation of Section 8.04 of the City's Municipal Code. After some time, you did bring the property into compliance with the City's codes. However, on August 12, 2004, City Enforcement Officer James Lierly sent notification to you that the building materials and junk motor vehicles stored on your property violate Port Angeles Municipal Code (PAMC) 8.04 and 8.05. On August 29, 2004, a second inspection was done but despite site visits and continuing personal contact with the Enforcement Officer, the vehicles and debris remains on your property. wl If it becomes necessary for the City to remove the debris on your property, the costs will be assessed against you pursuant to PAMC 8.04.050. As to the junk motor vehicles, the City may have them removed pursuant to PAMC 8.05.050. The costs of removal will be assessed against you as the registered property owner. In addition, you will be deemed to have committed a civil infraction and fined not less than $250 per violation. Each day the violation continues constitutes a separate violation. In short, you face the potential of large costs and fines if you allow these violations to continue. f The City does not want to bring you into court on these matters. This property is being used as a wrecking yard/junk yard /auto repair business. There are always many vehicles crowded in front of, behind, and beside this residence, and the alley is frequently encroached upon and sometimes even blocked. The resident is Steve Hirst Please let me know how I should go about making a formal complaint about the way this property is being used and maintained or if this email will suffice My interest is that I own the small house at 607 South C Street.
