It uses either a two-piece Style 10 (1/2 inch NPT) or Style 40 (3/4 inch NPT) Recessed Es- cutcheon with 1/2 inch (12,7 mm) of recessed adjustment or up to 3/4 inch (19,1 mm) of total adjustment from the flush pendent position, or a two-piece Style 20 (1/2 inch NPT) or Style 30 (3/4 inch NPT) Recessed Escutcheon with 1/4 inch (6,4 mm) of recessed adjust- ment or up to 1/2 inch (12,7 mm) of total adjustment from the flush pen- dent position. The adjustment provided by the Recessed Escutcheon reduces the accuracy to which the fixed pipe drops to the sprinklers must be cut. Corrosion resistant coatings, where applicable, are utilized to extend the life of copper alloy sprinklers beyond that which would otherwise be ob- tained when exposed to corrosive at - IMPORTANT Always refer to Technical Data Sheet TFP700 for the `INSTALLER WARNING' that provides cautions with respect to handling and instal- lation of sprinkler systems and com- ponents. Improper handling and in- stallation can permanently damage a sprinkler system or its compo- nents and cause the sprinkler to fail to operate in a fire situation or cause it to operate prematurely. Page 1 of 8 mospheres. Although corrosion resis- tant coated sprinklers have passed the standard corrosion tests of the appli- cable approval agencies, the testing is not representative of all possible cor- rosive atmospheres. Consequently, it is recommended that the end user be consulted with respect to the suitability of these coatings for any given corro- sive environment. The effects of ambi- ent temperature, concentration of chemicals, and gas/chemical velocity, should be considered, as a minimum, along with the corrosive nature of the chemical to which the sprinklers will be exposed. An intermediate level versions of the Series TY -FRB Pendent Sprinklers are detailed in Technical Data Sheet TFP356, and Sprinkler Guards are de- tailed in Technical Data Sheet TFP780 WARNINGS The Series TY -FRB Sprinklers de- scribed herein must be installed and maintained in compliance with this document, as well as with the applica- ble standards of the National Fire Pro- tection Association, in addition to the standards of any other authorities hav- ing jurisdiction. Failure to do so may impair the performance of these de- vices. The owner is responsible for maintain- ing their fire protection system and de- vices in proper operating condition. The installing contractor or sprinkler manufacturer should be contacted with any questions. Sprinklers that are found to be leaking or exhibiting visible signs of corrosion must be replaced. Automatic sprinklers must never be painted, plated, coated or otherwise altered after leaving the factory. Modi- fied sprinklers must be replaced. Sprinklers that have been exposed to corrosive products of combustion, but have not operated, should be replaced if they cannot be completely cleaned by wiping the sprinkler with a cloth or by brushing it with a soft bristle brush. Care must be exercised to avoid dam- age to the sprinklers - before, during, and after installation. Sprinklers dam- aged by dropping, striking, wrench twist/slippage, or the like, must be re- placed. Also, replace any sprinkler that has a cracked bulb or that has lost liquid from its bulb. (Ref. Installation Section). Frequent visual inspections are rec- ommended to be initially performed for corrosion resistant coated sprinklers, after the installation has been com- pleted, to verify the integrity of the cor- rosion resistant coating. Thereafter, annual inspections per NFPA 25 should suffice; however, instead of in- specting from the floor level, a random sampling of close-up visual inspec- tions should be made, so as to better determine the exact sprinkler condi- TFP171 5/811/4" (15,9±6,4 mm) FACE OF SPRINKLE FITTING MOUNTIM SURFACE 2-7/8" DIA. _ (73,0 mm) - 2-1/4" DIA. - (57 2 mm) 3/4" (19,1 mm) 1/4" (6,4 mm) MOUNTING PLATE 1/8" (3,2 mm) CLOSURE SEHIEb 1-1/4" (31,8 mm) TY -FRB 3/4" (19,1 mm) FIGURE 9 SERIES TY -FRB RECESSED PENDENT WITH TWO-PIECE 3/4 INCH TOTAL ADJUSTMENT STYLE 10 RECESSED ESCUTCHEON 5.6 K -FACTOR, 112 INCH NPT CLOSURE SERIES 1-5/16" (33,3 mm) TY -FRB 13/16" (20,6 mm) FIGURE 11 SERIES TY -FRB RECESSED PENDENT WITH TWO-PIECE 3/4 INCH TOTAL ADJUSTMENT STYLE 40 RECESSED ESCUTCHEON 8.0 K -FACTOR, 314 INCH NPT tion and the long term integrity of the corrosion resistant coating, as it may be affected by the corrosive conditions present. How will you monitor this operation? We will install and atmospheric ozone monitor that will automatically shut off the ozone generator if off -gas levels are too high. If the ozone generator is shut down as a result of;high levels, the entire system will be drained, cleaned and refilled. Since ozone concentrations cannot be monitored in water, how will you assure efficacy and efficiencies? Ozone levels in the water will be monitored by and ORP (Oxidation - Reduction Potential) meter With the ORP type meter can be connected to the main hospital alarm PLC, we will be assured that as long as a .2 to 4 residual is maintained in the water, the waterfall will be micro -biologically clean. Further since disinfecting is the priority, we will employ the use of a backup system that will be integrated with the ORP .Meter above. This backup system will inject small amounts of Hydrogen Peroxide into the waterfall. The same ORP meter measures both ozone and H2O2 levels. S24(2) What organisms will you be looking for in the "water culturing"? We will us a millpore heterotropic plate count sampler A heterotropic count will determine the overall microbiological status of the system. We will be looking for Enteric gram negative rods, Pseudomonas species, yeast and other aerobic bacteria. And at what frequency of testing? Water culturing will occur once a week for a year to establish a correlation to the ORP readings, seasonal variation, and preventative maintenance schedule. We will then adjust the samplmg schedule to obtain relevant data points or sets. S24(3) What problems or infection control do you expect with children playing with the water? With the system described above, the system would be safe. Stainless steel panels, the water returns to the reservoir via a 1 slot in the stainless steel, protect the reservoir S24(4) What parameters were used to establish semi and annual maintenance? The manufacturers recommended maintenance schedule was used to establish the semi and annual maintenance schedule. The schedule will be adjusted, in conjunction and consultation with the Infection Control Practitioner, based on the water culturing and historical experience. With the addition of the hydrogen peroxide, the storage container of H2O2 will be filled monthly The ozone system will require service annually (that's how long the bulb would last on a 2417 operational basis), the RO (Reverse Osmosis) system will require annual service if it were operating continuously S24(5) Please explain how the water is "self -disinfected"? With the addition of the systems above, the system is continuously disinfected and monitored. S24(6) How will you monitor and control moisture and humidity from this display? This display is located in the main lobby of the facility adjacent to the main entrance of the facility In conjunction with water culturing, we will utilize a particle counter Pacific Scientific Instruments Met One Model 227A .5 1 CE NIMH, which in addition to measuring particles, measures temperature and relative humidity This information will be downloaded into a computer program and trended. S24(7) Please provide a copy of this display's plans for plumbing and the "water maintenance system" (RO and Ozone). The partial copy of the plan is incomplete. Please see the attached drawings, Kloppenberg Shop Drawings (6 pages), Architectural sketches ASK -20 1 and ASK — 20.2 (2 pages), Mechanical sketches MSK -20 1, MSK -20.2, and MSK -20.3 (3 pages), Floor sink cut sheet (1 page), Electrical sketches ESK-20 I and ESK-20.2 (2 pages) S24(8) The reduced pressure backflow assembly shall be accessible per Section 603.3.3 UPC. Please refer to the attached drawings noted above All devices will be installed per all applicable codes and regulations. 4w OLYMPIC 1)1(,Al, CF-NTER OLYMPIC MEDICAL CENTER FUNCTIONAL PROGRAM Lobby Fountain May 13, 2002 CRS # 6313 The purpose of this water feature is to provide patients, visitors, staff, and guests with an eye pleasing sculpture that is soothing and relaxing while creating low level background noise to aide in preserving confidentiality of adjacent areas.
