To: All Customers Using S&B DMS Systems
Subject: Data Management System (OMS) Support Services
As part of our ongoing support activities for S&B DMS systems, our System Administrator occasionally dials up
your system. We check to verify it is collecting data, etc. and estimate approximately how long the data can be
collected before running out of space on the hard drive or I Nodes. When we observe space is vel)' short, we have
been providing a system administrative service by compressing the files and/or asking customers if we can remove
data, suggest a larger hard drive, etc.. This activity has not been on a scheduled basis so occasionally, customers'
systems would stop collecting data.
Beginning January 1998, with your approval, we will monitor your system on a scheduled basis as long as you
provide us with telephone access. Due to the time involved in providing this type of system administration service,
we will charge an annual fee of $500.00 for each system. Charges would apply only to systems after a year of
operation. Included are the following services to be performed by telephone once each 120 days:
1. Verify system is col1ecting data.
2. Verify, to degree possible, that the tape backup system is functioning.
3. Verify space and I Nodes are available to collect data for at least four months or compress files to make
room for data.
4. Report any rnaIfunctions or problems observed to customer.
5. Make recommendations to assist or improve proper ongoing performance of the system.
This service charge will not cover repair or maintenance of the system which will still be handled on an as required
basis.
Please indicate your approval to receive this service by signing and returning this letter.
Should you decide not to accept this system administration service, you will need to advise us whenever you want
us to check your system or perform service. While we still, on occasion, may dial up to check operation, it will not
be on a routine basis. We will, however, advise you ifwe happen to discover a problem.
We hope that by having these administrative functions performed on a scheduled basis that we can improve our
overall support of these important syst~ms.
