PLANNING DEPT BUILDING i (1 0/24/2008) Trenia Funston - Sewer reeair FirsU2nd st alley Page 11 From: To: Date: Subject: Jay Divelbiss Eric Walrath; Jeff Young; Trenia Funston 10/24/20087:54 AM Sewer repair First/2nd st alley q33&2nd- Hi Jeff, The First/2nd st alley between Race and Washington has several problems, The house at 933 E 2nd contracted Gary's Plumbing to replace their sewer line; in planing for their repair they found the D/E M/H was full of sewage. The WW Collection crew was called about 3:30 pm Monday to Jet the line. We found the Main was broken at the 300' mark from the down stream M/H and spent several hours trying to get the line to drain. We had to jet backwards from Washington St to finally get the line to drain. It took several more tanks of water through the Jet truck to where we could get the Camera all of the way up to the break from the down stream M/H, there is a lateral intrusion from the upper end that we were unable to get the Camera past. Once we were able to see the break in the Main we found it is only a small area, but the pipe in that area is completely missing. Yesterday I was called to the lateral repair that Gary's Plumbing was doing; They showed me that there isn't any good pipe in that area to hook up their new service and that the pipe in that area is missing 2" inches of the bottom of the pipe for as far as they could see. I told them to make as clean of a repair as they could and bury it. They said they will try to find good pipe to hook up to before they just bury it. The Pipe in that area is 6" concrete at about 8 to 10' deep. The pipe from the down stream M/H to the break looks good but from there up to the Washington st M/H may be bad, approx. 200' Thanks Jay
