Box 1150 Port Angeles, WA 98362 -0217 RECEIVED AUG 18 2010 CITY OF PORT ANGELES BUILDING DIVISION RE: Removal of non native vegetation from 2 Street right -of -way at Oak Street Dear Ms. Powell: I am in receipt of your request to remove vegetation from the public right -of -way known as James View Point Park. The vegetation in question includes several volunteer English holly trees (all less that 4" dbh), one Pyracantha shrub, and English ivy growing into a big leaf maple tree. All of the vegetation are nonnative species'. The removal of non native species plants located within an Environmentally Sensitive Area or its buffer may proceed without specific permitting. This letter provides permission to proceed with the work observing the following conditions. Prior to coirunencing any work, a signed and notarized `Hold Harmless' agreement must be returned to the Community and Economic Development Department. Only the following non native vegetation, may be removed; English ivy, English holly, and Pyracantha. The English holly shall be girdled near the ground by the entire removal of a one -foot section of the ivy stems climbing into the big leaf maple tree. h7y may be removed from the tree above the ground. No pruning of the big leaf maple tree is allowed. All plant material cut must be removed from the site within 24 hours of being cut. Any soils that become exposed on the marine bluff slope during the pruning shall be stabilized by covering the exposed soils with wood chips or straw to prevent erosion.
